Both inspired and concerned by human tissue engineering that Charlie has witnessed being grown in labs across the UK , Charlie is developing a series of artworks and installations to dramaticaly upscale, visualise and re-imagine some of the breathtaking new possibilities that these powerful tools bring to biology and the profound ethical dimensions which accompany them.
Reforming and reshaping scientific glassware, vessels and tools used in this form of ‘wet biology’ , Charlie’s ongoing series of sculptures aim to frame some of the disturbing new hybrid life forms currently being investigated for their myriad potential uses.
Selected works from this series have been exhibited as part of ‘The State of Us’ international digital arts exhibition at The Lowry, Salford (2019-2020) and Barnsley’s Cooper Gallery (Brains in a Dish 2022-23)
